How far is the beach?
The Gulf beaches are about 1.5 miles from Mollymawk Cottage — an easy bike ride or quick drive. Beach parking is available in paid public lots.
Is the pool heated?
No, the pool at Mollymawk Cottage is not heated. Most of the year the water stays comfortable naturally, though winter months may feel refreshing.
Do you allow dogs?
Yes — well-behaved dogs with prior approval are welcome at Mollymawk Cottage.
Do you provide bikes?
We don’t provide bikes, but several local rental companies deliver directly to Mollymawk Cottage. It’s an easy and convenient way to enjoy Sanibel’s miles of paved bike paths.
Is the home elevated?
Yes. Mollymawk Cottage is an elevated, stilted home with stairs leading to the main living level. Guests with mobility limitations should consider this when booking.
Is there parking at Mollymawk Cottage?
Yes. Mollymawk Cottage offers free onsite parking beneath the home.
Is there a grill?

Is there a screened lanai?

Yes. Jerry’s Foods is located on Sanibel and offers groceries, produce, wine, deli items, and essentials. It is less than a mile from Mollymawk Cottage.
Is there a toll to reach Sanibel?
Yes. The Sanibel Causeway charges a toll when entering the island (no toll when leaving). Fees vary by vehicle type, and most guests pay electronically through their rental car company or SunPass/E-Pass.
What airports are closest to Sanibel?
Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers is the closest airport, about 35–45 minutes from Mollymawk Cottage. Punta Gorda (PGD) and Sarasota–Bradenton (SRQ) are additional options, though farther away.

I cannot speak highly enough about this stunning property on Sanibel Island. The decor is crisp, clean and fresh, and the furnishings are absolutely stunning. Even the artwork speaks to the owner's clear love of Florida's landscape and its wildlife. Our every need was anticipated, from a wide array of kitchen items to shelling guides for our walks on the beach. It felt like a home away from home. Also - the location is absolutely perfect - far enough away from the restaurants and stores that you can relax in peace and tranquility as you watch the birds from the deck, but close enough to easily cycle into town and to the beach. What a blissful experience. We will be back!

We rented Mollymawk Cottage for a family trip to Sanibel Island, and it exceeded our expectations. There were six of us, and the house was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully planned for gathering. The kitchen was beautifully designed and well stocked with all the essentials, and had plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy meals, games and conversations together.
The pool was lovely, and getting to the beach was easy and convenient. We especially loved being able to bike places—it made the whole experience feel relaxed and connected to the island. The sleeping arrangements were perfect, with comfortable beds and plenty of room for everyone to spread out and feel at home.
The home was beautifully decorated and welcoming, and we felt comfortable from the moment we arrived. We had everything we needed for a wonderful stay and enjoyed every minute. We will absolutely return and highly recommend this home to anyone planning a vacation on Sanibel Island.
